Catalyzing statewide educational improvement in Massachusetts, so that all students can achieve success in the classroom, in careers, and in life.

MassPotential works across the education and policy ecosystems to ensure our state has a comprehensive, student-centered, and sustained policy agenda for improving K-12 education.

Our Approach

MassPotential envisions a Commonwealth with excellent public schools, where all children are reading and performing math on grade level, and are ready to meet robust and rigorous statewide standards to graduate from high school and pursue their aspirations for college, career, and life. We leverage the following core strategies in order to advance a comprehensive policy agenda, and achieve key policy wins for students:

Develop and advocate for the adoption of high-quality, research-based policy proposals in state budgets, legislation, and in DESE’s practices.

Build coalitions from across education advocacy groups, policymakers, funders, education practitioners, as well as students and families.

Hold elected and appointed leaders accountable for advancing a student-centered K-12 education policy agenda that addresses achievement and opportunity gaps and fosters innovation.

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key elected and appointed education leaders and support them to continue to grow their leadership on education issues.

Clearly communicate about the need in Massachusetts for state leadership, and a plan to close achievement and opportunity gaps.
